FOR FAMILIES
Little Eaters & Talkers is partnering with your child's school to check in on every enrolled child's communication skills during the school day. No appointments to juggle. Just sign up, and we'll send results home.
Is your child's school not listed? Ask your director to contact us at [email protected], or reach out to book an individual evaluation.
Key details
We're a Houston-based team of pediatric speech-language pathologists. We work with babies through school-age kids on speech, language, feeding and orofacial myofunctional concerns, and we partner closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and dietitians.
Our style is warm, playful and low-pressure. Your child will think they're playing games with a new friend.
What we check
How clearly your child says sounds and words for their age.
Vocabulary, sentences and understanding directions and questions.
Play, turn-taking and talking with friends and teachers.
Smoothness of speech and any voice concerns worth noting.
Our feeding specialty: we’ll look at tongue and lip resting posture, mouth breathing, tongue thrust, and chewing or picky-eating concerns.
Screening vs. evaluation
What you're signing up for
Only if recommended
After the screening
Great news: you'll get reassurance plus a few play ideas to keep skills growing at home.
We'll explain what we noticed and recommend a full evaluation, with us or another provider.
Screening: $30 per child, paid at sign up.
Evaluations & therapy: We welcome self-paying families who prefer to pay out-of-pocket and also provide superbills that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement based on your plan's benefits.
It's therapy for the muscles of the face, mouth and tongue. Habits like resting with the mouth open, breathing through the mouth or pushing the tongue forward when swallowing can affect speech sounds, eating and even how teeth grow in. If we spot these patterns, we'll explain what we saw and whether an evaluation (or a check-in with your dentist, orthodontist or pediatrician) makes sense.
No. We screen during the school day and send the summary home. You're welcome to call us with questions afterward.
Totally normal. We follow your child's lead and never push. If we can't finish, we'll let you know and suggest next steps.
Results go directly to you. You're welcome to share them with your child's teacher if you'd like. That's always your choice.
At this time, screenings are offered in English.
